What is manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and what is it used for?

Medical or manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is;

 

"A very gentle skin stretching technique or massage designed to move the skin in specific directions based on the under-lying structures and physiology of the lymphatic system" (BLS 2001)

By stimulating the lymphatic system with Manual Lymphatic Drainage the efficiency of the system is increased. Helping to improve overall health and wellbeing by carrying vital substances and removing waste products.
